Description

A vintage reproduction of an 18th-century engraving commemorating the first aerial crossing of the English Channel, which took place on January 7, 1785. The journey was completed by French aeronaut Jean-Pierre Blanchard and American physician John Jeffries. They launched from Dover Castle in England and landed approximately 2.5 hours later in the Forest of Guînes, near Calais, France. These are lithograph reproductions produced in 1956 for the book "Balloons" by the Ariel Press in England.
