A reproduction of a famous 19th-century French print titled "L'Ascension de Margat sur son Cerf Aéronaute Coco" (The Ascent of Margat on his Aeronaut Stag, Coco). An aeronaut named Margat ascended in a hot air balloon, in 1817, from the Tivoli Gardens in Paris while riding a live stag named Coco. Such spectacles were popular during the Regency period as "publicity stunts" to demonstrate the perceived safety of flight. These are lithograph reproductions produced by Éditions du Chêne in Paris around 1956 as part of a series celebrating historical ballooning.
